Lifespan: 8–12 years (sometimes longer with great care)
Size: 18–24 inches full-grown
Temperament: Friendly, calm, and easy to handle.
Enclosure Size: At least a 40-gallon breeder tank for one adult; larger is better (4 ft long is ideal).
Setup: Branches, rocks, and hides for climbing and basking.
Basking spot: 95–110°F (35–43°C).
Cool side: 75–85°F (24–29°C).
Night temps: Shouldn’t drop below 82–85°F
Lighting: Strong UVB bulb required (12 hours/day) for calcium absorption and bone health.
Juveniles: Mostly insects (crickets, discoid roaches, black soldier fly larvae) with some veggies.
Adults: Mostly vegetables (collard, mustard, turnip greens, squash) with insects as treats.
Supplements: Dust insects with calcium, calcium without D3, and a multivitamin as recommended.
Water & Humidity: Provide a shallow water dish (they may also enjoy soaking), keep humidity moderate (30–40%).
